Bradley the Dog needs a home

There’s no other way to say it: this sweet bully boy has had a tough life, and is long overdue for some good fortune. Bradley was an outdoor penned dog, and victim of abuse by his former owner. After multiple reports of abuse from neighbors, he was seized by animal control and taken into their custody.  One or our local volunteers was contacted, and this gentle boy is now living in a SC foster home, learning what it means to be an inside dog who is loved and cared for.

Bradley bears the scars of a hard life, but still has the sweetest personality. He’s a very submissive and friendly dog, and loves attention. He’s good with other dogs, and won’t initiate drama or respond to it. He’s quiet and not a barker, and has done great with house training and crate training too. He’s still working on his leash skills and likes to pull and has some fear of car rides, but all of this is still very new to him. He’s being fostered with smaller dogs, and is really just a peaceful soul.

Bradley is in the process of healing both inside and out. He’s been treated for heartworm, and is pretty scarred from the abuse he endured (even branded). His hips and knees are fine, but he can display a little stiffness when he first wakes up, so we are starting him on joint supplements. He’s not blind, but may have some minor vision impairment, most likely from being beaten.  We are getting that checked out.  He loves to go for walks and enjoys the freedom of romping around a yard. He also can’t get enough of playing with toys – his foster mom calls him a toy hoarder. He relishes the comforts of a bed and blankets, and snuggling... we believe he’s just happy to have some enjoyment in life and is coming out of his shell now that he feels safe.

This sweet boy has a very laid back demeanor and just wants to love. Even though you wouldn’t blame him if he did, he has never shown any aggression towards people – men, women, or children. He loves to crawl up in your lap and just be present. He’s totally devoted to his person and very eager to learn. He’s good with his bi-weekly baths that help his skin heal, and he’s getting salmon oil. He lets his foster mom bathe him and clean his ears with no issue.

Bradley is a good boy, and just needs a family to love him and some consistency and security in his life. He will melt your heart when you meet him, and his soulful eyes show that he has a lot of love to give.

10/1/17 - Bradley made the trip to N. VA this weekend and is settling into his foster home his new foster mom, 2 boys, and a senior pug. He's very gentle, but also a solid dog who is strong on leash and excited to explore the world around him. He is crate trained, potty trained and really loves his toys. When you see Bradley he will have a toy of some sort in his mouth and has a playful, sweet spirit.

We are looking for an awesome, loving home for this very sweet boy.

You can also help save dogs like this by becoming a foster, providing a rescue dog with a temporary home and giving them the love and care they need until they are permanently adopted. Every person who fosters is directly responsible for saving the life of a dog, because we can only save as many dogs as we have foster families available to welcome them into their homes. If you think you might be interested in becoming a foster and want to learn more, please go to http://foster.worthydog.org and fill out an application.
